The DPS Foundation is Denver Public Schools’ fundraising partner. We generate resources, build relationships and champion public education to impact system-wide achievement and help every child succeed.The single most pressing and critical priority for our nation is to provide a quality education for every child. The future of our community and the viability of our economy rely upon a thriving public school system that prepares every student for college, career and life.The Denver Public Schools (DPS) Foundation was founded in 1992 to support DPS in becoming the best urban school district in America. For the last twenty-two years, we have served as a valued partner to DPS, generating financial and philosophical support to advance DPS’ mission of seeing every student graduate from high school.The DPS Foundation believes that when the entire community stands shoulder to shoulder with our educators, we can and will give every DPS student the education they deserve. The outcome of our collective commitment will be a generation of students prepared to lead our city into the future.The DPS Foundation engages the entire community in support of our schools and our children. - We raise money.   In case you haven’t yet heard, on Thursday, August 15, the Denver Board of Education voted on a $975 million bond for Denver Public Schools. The package will be presented to Denver voters on November 5th.This bond investment promotes student well-being and success and is essential for ensuring that every student has a safe, modern, and equitable learning environment. This includes addressing critical facility maintenance, technology upgrades and air conditioning, which directly impact student success.DPS Foundation supports this bond so that we can ensure our students become the leaders and societal contributors we need.   DPS Foundation team members joined Great Education Colorado’s Board Chair and DPS Foundation supporter, Mimi Stephanus, at their 13th Annual Luncheon yesterday at the Denver Botanic Gardens! Chevron, one of our longtime partners in education, served as the event’s Presenting Sponsor as we learned more about the importance of creating welcoming schools.   DPS Foundation Finance Controller, Jennifer Struthers-Johnson, stopped by the DPS Finance Team’s office last week to show our appreciation by dropping off some cookies!   We had a wonderful retreat with our staff and board of directors last week! During our time together, we had engaging and productive discussions as we looked at the year ahead and also heard from four different educators on the impact of our work – the highlight of our day! With so many great leaders and members of the community on our board, we are excited to start this new year off by learning and growing together. Many thanks to Metropolitan State University of Denver for hosting us on this fun day. It’s going to be a great year!

  Last week, DPS Foundation Vice President of Development, MaryBeth Lawson, and Director of Development, Jenny Martin, attended IMA Foundation’s Party on the Plaza at Union Station in Denver! The event featured great food, live music and an exciting ping pong tournament. The IMA Foundation provides grants to organizations that have a primary focus on advancing youth, with five key areas identified: education, mental health, arts & culture, food insecurity and homelessness. Many thanks to the IMA Foundation for their continued support of all DPS students!

  The Denver Public Schools Foundation tabled at the resource fair of the Black Excellence Summit this past weekend at the University of Denver! At the Black Excellence Summit, participants engaged in professional development and learning opportunities, while also celebrating and advocating for increased Black excellence within DPS.DPS Foundation President & CEO, Sara Hazel, and Grant Engagement Manager, Jennifer Mays-Krimmer, spoke to educators, students, alumni, and community members throughout the resource fair section of the event. They were able to connect with othernonprofits who provide resources to schools and share information with students about our Student Grantmaking initiative. This event was a wonderful way to celebrate the impact and ongoing momentum of Black excellence in our schools and community!
